Necropolis of Gonur

Gonur was the most important city in the kingdom of Margiana, Turkmenistan. The cemetery contained c3,000 tombs, dating from the end of 3rd to beginning of 2nd millennium BC; it is the largest necropolis of the period to have been excavated. Contains results of the excavations, and anthropological observations based on artefacts. 385 col illus.
