Muslims in northern Nigeria and Senegal share a common background but differ in their attitudes and approaches to public affairs. This book explains the divergence using factors such as the pre-colonial and colonial experiences; socio-political structures of the nation-states; and the structures and forms of Muslim brotherhoods and organizations.
