Islamists and the State

In the wake of the 'Arab spring, the role of Middle Eastern Islamist parties has taken on a new significance. But in contrast with the commonly-held Western belief that Islamist groups not only challenge the incumbent regimes, but the authority of the state itself, both Islah of Yemen and Hizballah of Lebanon want to work within state structures.
