Samenvatting

This monograph contains the proceedings of an International Symposium on the Pathophysiology of Cere bral Energy Metabolism which was held at the University of Belgrade School of Medicine, September 19-22, 1977. The purpose of the symposium was to promote an interdisciplinary discussion on energy demand in the brain in pathophysiological states, particularly with regard to cessation of blood flow, epilepsy, and para doxical sleep disturbances. Doctors W. F. Caveness, I. Klatzo, B. B. Mrsulja, Lj. M. Rakie, and v. Susie served as an advisory board and helped to plan the sci entific program. The papers which were presented covered neurophysiological, neurochemical, morphological, and clinical approaches to the topics. The Editors v CONTENTS Introductory Remarks 1 J.
