Archbold (Mainwork & Supplements)
Criminal Pleading, Evidence and Practice 2023
Samenvatting
The 2023 edition of Archbold: Criminal Pleading, Evidence & Practice, the leading criminal court book for the Crown Court, publishes in October 2022 in print and eBook formats.
2022 marked a special year for Archbold as it celebrated the 200th anniversary since the first edition published in 1822. The aim of the work remains as originally set out: to capture the essential materials for the criminal law practitioner, and, as Archbold himself intended, to be a practically useful book.
Archbold 2023 continues the ethos of being an invaluable aid to practising criminal law in the Crown Court and being reliable, current and comprehensive. The new edition is as up-to-date and authoritative as ever: amendments made, in particular, by the Police, Crime, Sentencing & Courts Act 2022 and the Judicial Review & Courts Act 2022 have been fully taken in, and the Criminal Procedure Rules are up-to-date to 3rd October 2022 with the coming into force of the Criminal Procedure (Amendment No.2) Rules 2022 (SI 2022/815).
Significant case law decisions include, from the Supreme Court, Luckhurst [2022] UKSC 23 (confiscation) and Pwr v DPP [2022] UKSC 2 (Terrorism Act 2000); Court of Appeal and High Court judgments include R. (Cleeland) v CCRC [2022] EWCA Civ 5 (availability of appeals to the CA (Civ Div) against decisions of the CCRC not to refer) and Limon [2022] EWCA Crim 39 (sentencing of non-recent offences committed as children); and AAD [2022] EWCA Crim 106; (on the admissibility of SCA decisions/experts and the scope for abuse of process in modern slavery cases).
The Archbold e-update will keep you fully informed on further changes on a weekly basis as they happen.
